About Us

The Asian Canadian Talent Search (ACTS) - Sing For Your Heart is an annual singing competition developed by the Canadian Multicultural Council – Asians in Ontario (CMC) as a means to bring together young Asian Canadians to celebrate their culture and diversity. Originally titled The Young Asian Canadian Singing Competition - Sing for Your Heart, CMC has developed a strategy to rebrand the competition to expand the outreach to the youth community. The ACTS was developed through the motivation of community leaders within CMC to find more ways to communicate with the youth community and engage them in the celebration of Asian Heritage Month. CMC noticed a need for activities that allow Asian Canadian youth to discover their talents in an environment that promotes cultural exchange and appreciation for multiculturalism. The Heart and Stroke Foundation - Chinese Council of Ontario, has been a generous sponsor of the competition since its inception in 2008. By teaming up with The Heart and Stroke Foundation we hope to send a valuable message to the youth community to promote living a healthy and vibrant lifestyle while embracing their talent and passion. The Sun Media's support of the competition from its inaugural year has helped the outreach to a wider audience and has propelled the competition to a stellar status. With the support of our sponsors, volunteers, and communities across Canada, The ACTS has evolved into a distinguished singing competition for Asian Canadian youth in Ontario.

A Message From The Chair

Welcome to the Asian Canadian Talent Search (ACTS) Website!

2013 marks the 6th year that the Canadian Multicultural Council – Asians in Ontario (CMC) has been organizing and hosting this singing competition for Asian Canadian youth. The “2013 Asian Canadian Talent Search – Sing for Your Heart” will bring new excitement and challenges for our young Asian Canadians to showcase their talents and skills while celebrating the cultural diversity of our Asian communities.

We aim to bring together a diverse group of Asian Canadian youth to share their passion for the arts and music while interacting with youth from different Asian cultures and heritages. We would like to invite all Asian communities to encourage their youth to come out and participate in this wonderful event.

We would like to thank our partners, sponsors, business leaders and our Asian communities. Your continued support of this singing competition has provided a platform for young Asian Canadians to engage themselves with a cultural activity and eventually to become active members of the communities at large. We cannot express enough gratitude to the support by our major sponsors The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario, The Sun Media, and OMNI TV in making this event a reality. We would also like to thank you past participants, our distinguished panel of judges and our committed volunteers to help make our events a success.

The 2013 series of competitions will begin with a set of auditions, followed by quarter finals and a semi-final. The final competition will be on June 23rd, 2013 in the P.C. Ho Theatre at the Chinese Cultural Centre of Greater Toronto.
